1. A BIT OF HISTORY MADE BY JULIAN JAQUES On Monday 19th December Julian Jaques became the first player to achieve a century break in the Bracknell Border League in any competition. A magnificent 113 in a scratch cup match against Steve Rooth.
Having broke off Steve left Julian an easy red and pink. Running out of position on the pink Julian decided to play safe. A good 7 by Julian though. Unknown to Roofy his attempted safety was to be his last shot of the frame. Julian went on to make his magnificent 113 break missing the final black for a 120. I am told on missing the final black someone from the other table shouted 'rubbish' which is typical of the good nature our league is played in.
I spoke to Julian on Tuesday morning and congratulated him. His excuse for missing the final black was he 'relaxed a little bit too much'. I think he deserved to relax after what he had just achieved. I bet roofy wished he had relaxed a little half way through
On behalf of everyone in the Border League I would like to congratulate Julian on this great achievment.
